Hydrogen

Produced by the OMI Combined Energy System

Hydrogen gas or liquid produced by the OMI Combined Energy System (CES) is a product of the future.  This future may be sooner than many realize.  The most advanced countries are looking to Hydrogen Energy as the clean and abundant fuel of the future.  Technologies are being developed to use hydrogen fuel safely and cost effectively.  Distribution systems are also being developed.  However, the cost of producing hydrogen remains as one of the more significant barriers.  The OMI technology uses the by-product electrolyte that discharges from the osmosis filtration unit and a portion of the electric generator to operate the Electrolysis Hydrogen Generator.  This approach takes advantage of the absolute lowest cost electric power to produce the highest quality hydrogen gas or liquid.  In fact, the electrical power can be used during 'off-peak' periods for hydrogen generation to realize the most efficient production costs.  Coastal communities that elect to own and manage their own CES can ensure that their customers have a reliable and low cost source of electric power as well as a valuable resource of hydrogen for their local use or sale.  Their supply will be independent of fossil fuel and other energy costs as well as any other state and federal distribution or control decisions that could constrain or redirect other electric or hydrogen supplies.

The OMI CES uses state-of-the-art electrolysis hydrogen generators to produce high quality hydrogen from sea water.    Hydrogen generation technology has progressed significantly in the recent decades and can produce with high reliability.  Costs for the latest technologies has come down significantly.  OMI uses readily available 'off-the-shelf' electrolysis hydrogen generation systems which avoid performance and cost risks.

One OMI CES platform will produce over 500 gallons of hydrogen liquid per hour.  Take a look at the system description to see the capacities that the CES will produce.  This is about 12,000 gallons of hydrogen per day!
