Electricity

Produced by the OMI Combined Energy System

Electric power produced by the OMI Combined Energy System (CES) is a product generated from the endless procession of waves along the coast of the ocean.  The OMI technology uses the tremendous hydro-dynamic power of those waves to power the CES.  The OMI WavePump is designed for reliability and high performance.  Coastal communities that elect to own and manage their own CES can ensure that their customers have a reliable and low cost source of electric power.  Their supply will be independent of fossil fuel and other energy costs as well as any other state and federal distribution or control decisions that could constrain or redirect other electricity supplies.

The OMI CES uses state-of-the-art hydro-turbine generators to produce electric power.    The output of the OMI WavePump drives a highly efficient water turbine which in turn spins the electric generator.  Hydro-turbine technology has progressed significantly in the recent decades and highly efficient turbines now can extract a large amount of energy from the high pressure water flowing through it.  Costs for the latest technologies has come down significantly.  OMI uses readily available 'off-the-shelf' hydro-turbine and generator systems which avoid performance and cost risks.

One OMI CES platform will produce from 5 megawatts to 50 megawatts of electrical power.  Take a look at the system description to see the capacities that the CES will produce.
